The celebration continues for Man’s Best Friend. On Thursday, September 4, Sabrina Carpenter unveiled a digital-only bonus track titled “Such a Funny Way” as an extension of her latest album.
Alongside a glamorous portrait—her expression contemplative as she holds a vintage-style telephone—the pop star teased her fans on social media with the promise of “a little surprise for you.”
“‘Such a Funny Way’ is one of my proudest creations,” Carpenter wrote. “I’ve always pictured it as an alternate universe’s finale to Man’s Best Friend. I couldn’t wait any longer to share it with you.”
Previously exclusive to the vinyl deluxe edition of Man’s Best Friend, released on August 29, the track is now available for individual download or bundled with the full album for $7.99 via Carpenter’s official store.
The announcement follows Carpenter’s in-depth discussion with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, where she revealed the inspiration behind the song. “Humor can be a mask for deeper feelings,” she explained. “It’s a way to cope—sometimes healthy, sometimes not.”
“There are times when laughter eases the pain, and times when it only makes it sharper,” she continued. “That duality inspired the closing lyric: ‘So funny that I have to laugh just so I don’t cry.’”
Anchored by the Billboard Hot 100–topping single “Manchild,” Man’s Best Friend marks Carpenter’s seventh studio album, following last year’s Short n’ Sweet, which held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for four weeks.
