Sabrina Carpenter Treats Loyal Fans to New Album ‘Man’s Best Friend’—Stream Now

Attention, skeptics and traditionalists: Sabrina Carpenter unveils her seventh studio opus, Man’s Best Friend, today.

Released on Friday, August 29, the record features 12 compelling tracks, anchored by the lead single “Manchild,” which celebrated Carpenter’s second Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 this past June, and complemented by a bold new video for “Tears,” launched alongside the album.

Co-produced by Jack Antonoff and issued via Island Records, Man’s Best Friend follows on the heels of Carpenter’s Grammy-winning breakthrough Short n’ Sweet. The 2024 LP spawned the hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” spending four weeks atop the Billboard 200 as her first chart-topping album.

Across both Short n’ Sweet and Man’s Best Friend, Carpenter has perfected a flair for witty innuendo and unabashed sensuality. Despite criticism—especially of the provocative cover art depicting her on all fours under a man’s hand—she confidently champions her creative authenticity.

“This album isn’t designed for the faint of heart,” Carpenter told Gayle King on CBS Mornings on August 28. “Yet even the most modest listeners might find themselves quietly grinning in solitary enjoyment.”

She added, “When I picture my fans at a live show—young women screaming alongside their friends—I want them to let go and simply revel in the joy. That’s the essence of it.”
