Sabrina Carpenter Jokes ‘Saturday Night Live’ Will ‘Regret’ Inviting Her to Host

Sabrina Carpenter is set to make her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live — and she cheekily warned that the show won’t know what hit it.

NBC announced on Thursday, Sept. 18 that Carpenter will pull double duty as both host and musical guest on the Oct. 18 episode. The new season begins Oct. 4; early-season hosts include Bad Bunny and Amy Poehler, while Doja Cat and Role Model are slated as the first musical guests.

Shortly after the announcement, Carpenter posted the news to her Instagram, captioning the update: “they’re gonna regret this.”

Her turn in the SNL spotlight has been anticipated. Carpenter first appeared on the show in May 2024 to perform her breakthrough single “Espresso.” She later returned for SNL’s 50th-anniversary events, performing “Homeward Bound” with Paul Simon and joining Pedro Pascal in a memorable “Domingo” sketch.

Carpenter arrives back at 30 Rock this fall with a freshly released album. Man’s Best Friend, issued in August, features the Billboard Hot 100–topping lead single “Manchild,” and the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — Carpenter’s second chart-topping record.

Reflecting on the milestone, she wrote on Instagram: “you guys have made Man’s Best Friend my second #1 album and my highest debut ever. that is very surreal!!! i feel so lucky to have such beautiful love and support all around me … to see the way you are all resonating with it just makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”
