Rock Band 4 Will Soon Be Removed From Digital Stores

Rock Band is poised to observe an anniversary that will feel both important and bittersweet.

This week marks ten years since Rock Band 4 launched — the most recent full installment in the series, released for the then-current PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Despite the milestone, the developers have not planned any celebratory events.

In a recent announcement on the game’s official Discord, the studio revealed that on October 5 — the tenth anniversary — Rock Band 4 will be removed from the digital catalogs of the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store. As a result, new customers will no longer be able to purchase the title. Players who already own the game and its additional content will retain access and will still be able to re-download any purchased music and DLC.

The studio confirmed the removal is due to music licensing agreements for the tracks featured in the game expiring.
