Insiders say Argentine filmmaker Demián Rugna, known for the film “Possessed by Evil,” is a leading contender to direct the next Alien entry. His name reportedly came up during discussions about the franchise’s future by Alien: Romulus director Fede Álvarez.
The report has not been officially confirmed, but Rugna is viewed as a promising replacement for Álvarez. Álvarez himself has publicly affirmed that he will not be involved in the next Alien project.
The upcoming Alien installment is expected to be a direct continuation of Romulus.
