Rachel Platten Reclaims ‘Fight Song’ with New Recording Inspired by Taylor Swift’s Empowering Spirit

In a move inspired by Taylor Swift’s acclaimed re-recordings, Rachel Platten has revealed plans to revisit her catalogue, beginning with her 2015 breakout hit “Fight Song.”

Revealing striking black-and-white cover art for Fight Song (Rachel’s Version), the New York singer announced the collection will arrive on September 26, featuring refreshed studio renditions of her fan favorites, a selection of live recordings, and a never-before-heard vault track.

“As we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of ‘Fight Song,’ I reflect on composing these melodies in moments of raw vulnerability, never imagining they’d carry so much meaning,” Platten wrote on social media. “For a decade, they’ve woven through your stories of strength, doubt, and unity.”

“I’m revisiting these originals not to alter them, but to reclaim them,” she continued. “The new Rachel’s Versions bear the maturity of my voice today, the wisdom I’ve gathered, and the pride of owning my masters. I’m profoundly grateful to Taylor Swift for shining a light on this conversation and empowering artists to take control of their art, their narratives, and their futures.”

Initially released by Columbia Records, “Fight Song” climbed the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 6 in August 2015. Swift, an admirer of the track, brought Platten onstage during a 1989 World Tour stop in Philadelphia, creating an unforgettable live moment.

Since then, “Fight Song” has become a global anthem of perseverance—serving as Hillary Clinton’s campaign song in 2016—and featured on Platten’s album Wildfire, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

While Platten embarks on her own journey to reclaim her masters, Swift recently concluded hers, finalizing ownership of her early catalog after over six years of negotiations with Scooter Braun and Shamrock Capital.

“Calling this my greatest dream come true still feels like an understatement,” Swift wrote in May. “I’m inspired by the conversations this has reignited across our industry. Every artist who negotiates for master ownership because of this fight reminds me how crucial this all has been.”
