It’s a page that is turned and it can seem very steep as the PS5 has only just hit the market, but Sony Interactive Entertainment has just confirmed the total shutdown of almost all PS4 models in Japan. The chopper was pronounced a few hours ago and transmitted by the great Japanese authorities, only the Slim 500 Go Jet Black model will continue to be manufactured, but all the others are now at a standstill, including the original model at the so beveled shape (PS4 CUH-1000) and the PS4 Pro, only 4 years after its release. It must be said that the health context does not help the Japanese manufacturer to accelerate the production rate of its PS5, still very complicated to obtain at the time of this writing. It’s also a subtle way for Sony to push consumers to buy a PS5, knowing that the machine is backwards compatible with most of the entire PS4 catalog. Japan is also one of the least supplied markets in terms of PS5 production, with only 250,000 machines produced since its launch, making it the weakest start for a PlayStation console in the Land of the Rising Sun. What is the reverse in other territories such as the United States, Great Britain or France which experienced the biggest start in the history of consoles ever. This is to say the contrast.
