The PS2 classic that laid the foundation for the series is headed to PS5. Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered launches on March 19, 2026.
Tomohiko Sho, producer of Dynasty Warriors: Origins and head of Omega Force, has confirmed the remaster is in development and aims to evoke nostalgia for both new and longtime players. A trailer showcasing footage from the original PS2 release has already been published.
Dynasty Warriors 3 is a tactical action game set during the Three Kingdoms period, where players can select from more than 40 officers and engage in massive clashes—often one-versus-thousands—across sprawling battlefields. This edition preserves the key elements of the 2001 original: True Musou combat, local two-player co-op, and the officer progression system.
With Unreal Engine 5 powering the project, the visuals have been significantly enhanced. The remaster includes content from the standalone expansion Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends—bringing new scenarios, characters, and weapons. Gameplay systems and the interface have been polished for modern convenience while remaining faithful to the source.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered will release on PS5 on March 19, 2026.
