Producer of The Witches, Jay Van Hoy, is preparing a screen adaptation of “The Rat” from Stephen King’s 2020 collection If It Bleeds. Mexican director Isaac Ezban, known for directing Simulacra, has been tapped to lead the project.
The narrative centers on an unlucky writer mired in a creative dry spell. In his quest to produce a bestselling novel he has repeatedly taken drastic actions that jeopardized his family. Eventually he conceives a western and decides to seclude himself in a forest cabin to bring the idea to life.
It’s worth noting that this year also saw another adaptation from If It Bleeds — Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck — reach cinemas.
