From Duchess Kate to DJ Kate? Perhaps not, if Kate Middleton’s recent attempt at creating a dance beat is any indication, as far as her husband Prince William is concerned.
While visiting Scotland, the royal couple spent some time with the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, where the Duchess of Cambridge tried to get her beat on. In a video shared to the couple’s Instagram account on Monday (May 24), Kate can be seen using a touchpad to help create some tunes.
Things start off relatively smoothly until she drags her finger as if writing out the letter C. At that point, what sounds a bit like electronic flatulence comes out of the speakers, leading to immediate giggles. As the tune is played again, Kate grimaces and laughs, and puts her fingers in her ears to avoid her own beat.
“Please turn that off, it’s hurting my ears!” Prince William can be heard teasing in the background as the beat goes on.
As the couple turns to leave, Kate urges the organization to get rid of her attempt at making music. “Sorry for leaving such a terrible song,” she apologizes with a laugh. “Delete it! Delete it! Delete it!”
According to Kensington Palace, Kate and William are visiting Edinburgh and Fife in Scotland from May 24 to May 27, where they are meeting with charities and organizations who are addressing issues ranging from mental health to homelessness and the environment. The couple are also hosting events to thank frontline workers, volunteers, the military and others who stepped up to help their communities during the coronavirus pandemic.
