“Predator: Badlands” Director to Helm Sleeping Beauty Adaptation

Filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg, acclaimed for his work on Prey and 10 Cloverfield Lane, is teaming up with Disney to develop a feature film inspired by Charles Perrault’s classic fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty. The news comes via a report from Deadline.

Specific plot details remain under wraps. The story is famously etched in cinematic history through Disney’s 1959 animated masterpiece and the more recent Maleficent duology starring Angelina Jolie.

The screenplay is being penned by the duo Alex Anfanger (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) and Dan Schimpf. Reports indicate that Trachtenberg intends to take the narrative in a bold, entirely new direction.

Currently, Trachtenberg is also occupied with a secretive project for Paramount. His 2025 hit Prey: Badlands, starring Elle Fanning, proved to be both a commercial and critical success, pulling in $184 million at the global box office and maintaining a stellar 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
