Production on the new screen adaptation of Capcom’s franchise is now in full swing.

The first photographs from the set of director Zak Kregger’s Resident Evil film have appeared online. Shooting is taking place in Prague, where the crew has recreated the streets of Raccoon City. The images show the story unfolding against a snowy, winter backdrop.

This new take will not be a direct retelling of the original games; instead it offers a standalone narrative. The plot centers on a courier who, in the middle of the night, is sent to deliver a mysterious package to Raccoon City Hospital — a task that plunges him into the epicenter of the outbreak.

The courier will be played by Austin Abrams, who previously appeared in Kregger’s earlier film, “Weapons.”

The new Resident Evil film is slated to premiere on September 18, 2026.
