Pooh Shiesty was indicted this week over his involvement in an alleged shooting and robbery in Miami after investigators allegedly spotted some incriminating pictures on his Instagram. The rapper born Lontrell Denell Williams Jr. was taken into federal custody and made his first federal court appearance on Tuesday (June 29), according to th Miami Herald.
The arrest came in connection with an October 2020 shooting at Bay Harbor Island, Florida in which two men were wounded. Investigators reportedly used Instagram photos posted several days before the robbery in which the MC allegedly flaunted “several long rifles and plethora of $100.00 bills” as an aid in their probe (the images appear to have been removed), with one bill inside a Louis Vuitton bag stuffed with more than $40,000 in cash that tumbled out of the rented lime green McLaren that fled the scene matching a serial number in the photo; Shiesty also reportedly posted photos of himself in a car that appeared to match the description of the McLaren.
Williams, 21, is facing charges of discharging a firearm during a violent crime, conspiracy and robbery under a law regulating commerce and he will reportedly be held in federal custody until a July 6 detention hearing. He was earlier charged and freed on bond in Miami-Dade state court over the same incident and then jailed again in a different incident over the alleged shooting of a security guard at the Kind of Diamonds strip club on Memorial Day. Shiesty surrendered to authorities on June 8 on charges of aggravated battery for allegedly firing a gun in the club and injuring the guard.
“We have been in communication with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and we believe they have a federal detainer on him and are likely to file federal charges,” the rapper’s defense attorney, Saam Zangeneh, previously told the Herald. “That doesn’t change our position as to his 100 percent innocence, in both state and federal matters.” At press time Zangeneh and a spokesperson for Williams had not returned requests for comment.
The federal case charges that Williams, as well as two other men — Bobby Brown and Jayden Darosa — arranged to buy some marijuana and “high-end athletic sneakers” in October from two men at the Landon Hotel in Bay Harbor Islands. The rapper reportedly arrived in a rented McLaren and during the deal he and Brown allegedly shot the two men — one in the hip, the other in the buttocks — according to the complaint, with the robbery caught on surveillance video. The complaint alleges that Williams used a Draco subcompact machine gun in the shooting and “never paid either victim for the shoes or marijuana.”
The criminal complaint said that Darosa’s Insta also appeared to feature photos of him hold the same Draco weapon used by Williams in the incident.
