Polo G posts his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart as “Rapstar” marches 4-1 to lead the list dated July 10. The single rallies 11% in plays on monitored U.S. stations to become the format’s most-played song in the week ending July 4, according to MRC Data.
“Rapstar” gives rapper Polo G his first leader in his second appearance on Rhythmic Airplay. His prior visit, with “Pop Out,” featuring Lil Tjay, peaked at No. 9 in 2019.
Since its April release, “Rapstar” has unlocked a new tier of chart success for 22-year-old Polo G, born Taurus Bartlett. In addition to securing his maiden Rhythmic chart-topper, “Rapstar” immediately became the rapper’s first champ on the Billboard Hot 100 with its No. 1 debut on the flagship chart in April, where it ruled for two weeks. The sustained popularity of “Rapstar” – it has yet to depart the Hot 100’s top 20 in its first 12 weeks on the chart – set up the song’s parent album, Hall of Fame. The set, released in June, became Polo G’s first No. 1 on both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and all-genre Billboard 200 charts.
With the Rhythmic No. 1 complete, “Rapstar” looks next to conquer Rap Airplay. The single rises 4-2 on the latter list through a 6% jump in audience impressions in the week ending July 4, narrowing the gap with the current champ, Moneybagg Yo’s “Time Today,” which loses 4% of its audience reach in the latest tracking week.
Elsewhere, “Rapstar” advances one spot (13-12) on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, where it improves 1% to 10.6 million in audience impressions. The trap tune also even makes inroads on Pop Airplay, where, despite repeating at its No. 29 position, adds 8% more plays at mainstream top-40-based radio stations in the tracking week.
