Paradox’s Civilization Rival Received Its Final Patch and Was Left Without Support — Millennia Failed to Become a Hit
Another 4X title failed to overcome the dominant franchise and couldn’t maintain a foothold on the market.
Millennia launched on PC via Steam last year. It’s an expansive 4X strategy inspired by Sid Meier’s Civilization, promising that “over 10,000 years your nation will advance from the dawn of humanity to the reaches of space.”
Development was handled by C Prompt Games, while Paradox Interactive served as the publisher.
Millennia drew some attention but never broke through as a major success: its peak concurrent players on Steam topped out at roughly 8,000, and it holds a 68% score (marked as “mixed” reviews).
In early October 2025 the team announced they would end active support for Millennia; the final patch has now been released.
