‘Outer Banks’ Rules Top TV Songs Chart Thanks to Celeste’s ‘Strange’

Netflix’s Outer Banks claims three of the top five entries on Billboard’s Top TV Songs chart, powered by Tunefind, for August 2021, including the No. 1 in Celeste’s “Strange.”

Rankings for the Top TV Songs chart are based on song and show data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending that data with sales and streaming information tracked by MRC Data during the corresponding period of August 2021.

The second season for Outer Banks premiered July 30. “Strange” leads the way with 8.8 million U.S. on-demand streams and 2,000 downloads in August 2021, according to MRC Data, following its inclusion in the season’s sixth episode.

The song’s appearance bumped it onto only one weekly Billboard chart: LyricFind Global, where it bowed at No. 25 Aug. 28.

As for Outer Banks’ other entries, Dr. Dog’s “Where’d All the Time Go” starts at No. 3 (9.1 million streams, 1,000 downloads), while The xx’s “Intro” comes in at No. 4 (4.7 million streams, 1,000 downloads).

The only song to break up Outer Banks’ claim to the top three is The Rolling Stones’ classic “She’s a Rainbow,” which debuts at No. 2 after its Aug. 20 appearance in Ted Lasso. In August, the song accrued 1.8 million streams and 5,000 downloads.
