Of Montreal, Shlohmo, Leon Vynehall, More Drop Out of Meteor Festival in Israel

Of Montreal are the newest act to drop out of the inaugural Meteor Festival in Israel. “Now is not the time for escapism and celebrations,” they wrote within the caption of an Instagram publish asserting the cancelation. “Now is the time for activism and protests against Israeli apartheid, Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the human rights atrocities being carried out everyday in Gaza by Israeli forces. We have so much love for the peace loving Israeli people and an equal amount of love for the peace loving Palestinians.” Find their full assertion beneath.

In addition to Of Montreal, a number of different artists have introduced their cancelations, together with Shlohmo, Leon Vynehall, Volvox, DJ Python, and Mall Grab. “I had said no to playing there for years and the only reason I could find to say yes was if I were to donate my fee to Gaza relief,” Shlohmo mentioned via Twitter. “But after much dialogue I found it to be a more important statement to say no all together than to donate. I hope you can understand this decision.”

Lana Del Rey beforehand “postponed” her set at Meteor after facing criticism for the reserving. “I’m suspending my look on the Meteor Festival till a time after I can schedule visits for each my Israeli and Palestinian followers, in addition to hopefully different nations within the area,“ she wrote in a statement.
