Mark your calendars: both Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II are slated to arrive on the Switch 2 on October 1, coinciding perfectly with the franchise’s eighth anniversary.

Square Enix is offering these acclaimed RPGs as standalone purchases—available in both physical and digital formats—alongside a digital-exclusive bundle. Originally launched in 2018 and 2023 respectively, both titles have received technical enhancements for the new hardware, boasting smoother frame rates and boosted resolutions.

However, prospective buyers should note that Square Enix has confirmed there will be no upgrade path for those who already own the original Switch versions. Furthermore, save files are siloed; progress cannot be migrated between the original Switch releases and these new Switch 2 iterations.
