Noah Cyrus on Family Turmoil: “It’s Emotionally Draining”

Noah Cyrus dispels persistent rumors about fractures within her family.

In a People interview published on August 21, the artist explained she deliberately keeps distance from familial discord. Following Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus’s divorce after 28 years of marriage in 2022, gossip columns speculated that Noah and her siblings—including pop icon Miley—had aligned with different sides.

Even though her elder brother Trace publicly aired grievances in open letters, Noah insists the media narrative is exaggerated. “It can be emotionally taxing,” she admitted, “but it doesn’t affect us. You learn to shield yourself from it.”

When asked about her family’s bond, the Grammy nominee assured, “We’re all in a good place and share genuine love for one another.”

“Having lived much of my life in the public eye, it doesn’t really penetrate,” she noted. “At its core, we’re just a family navigating everyday life.”

This conversation arrives six weeks after the release of Noah’s sophomore album, I Want My Loved Ones to Go With Me, which debuted on July 11. To mark the occasion, she performed an intimate London concert, where her father joined her for several songs while his partner, actress Elizabeth Hurley, watched from the audience.

That performance alleviated rumors of a rift between Billy Ray and his daughters—a point Miley Cyrus addressed in May. “Dad and I have worked through our differences,” she wrote, “and I’m grateful for the healing time has brought.”

Reflecting on Miley’s influence, Noah told People that she views her sister not only as a sibling but as an industry trailblazer. “Watching her journey as a child taught me valuable lessons,” she said. “I’ve learned to anticipate challenges and consider how I’d handle similar situations.”
