No Towers and No Crackling on PlayStation — Path of Exile 2 Developers Unveil Update Ahead of 0.4.0 Launch

Enthusiasts will now find it easier to manage Precursor Tiles.

The Path of Exile 2 team is preparing a large 0.4.0 update. However, some improvements are being released early as part of patch 0.3.1.

The developers responded to community feedback — Precursor Tiles no longer require towers to be used. Instead, tiles can be placed into the Cartographer’s Machine to apply their bonuses directly to a map.

Other changes include:

· Tiles now have a fixed number of uses, as indicated on their individual property.

· Each time a tile is used on a map, its remaining uses decrease; when a tile reaches zero uses it is consumed.

· Up to three tiles can be applied to each map, but the number of available slots depends on the map’s property count. A map with six properties will allow all three tile slots in the Cartographer’s Machine to be used.

· Tiles cannot be used on areas you have already attempted to clear.

· Towers can still be used to reveal the Atlas, and they will also drop an additional Precursor Tile as a completion reward.

· Non-unique tiles now have 10 uses instead of 12–18, and the Watcher tile now has 10 uses instead of 2–4.

· Because tiles are now applied directly to maps, you can add the content you want to each map you run (provided you have enough tiles). However, the cap on content per map has been reduced. Overall this creates a more balanced experience, and to prevent the cap from becoming overly restrictive we’ve strengthened the modifiers on tiles:

· Fixed an issue where the controller’s interact button could stop responding after interacting with a chest.

· Fixed an issue on PlayStation where audio could crackle or be cut off.

· Fixed a potential client freeze when entering a new area after respawning while in a party.

· Fixed several DirectX 12 renderer crashes.

· Various crash fixes across platforms.
