No Man’s Sky Gets a Rival: Astroneer Developers Announce Starseeker

The creators of Astroneer have revealed a new project — Starseeker: Astroneer Expeditions. The team returns to the theme of space exploration with a lighter, more humorous tone, deliberately moving away from the gritty realism of titles like Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen.

The developers emphasize that Starseeker is not a direct sequel to Astroneer. It’s a standalone game with a distinct gameplay philosophy. The focus here is on planetary exploration and online cooperative play. Players can team up in groups of up to four, though a single-player mode is also available.

Starseeker centers on joint expeditions, discovery of new worlds, and cooperative interaction between team members. The studio promises journeys that are breezy and enjoyable rather than bogged down by dense simulation.

You can view gameplay snippets in the released video — notable sequences begin around the three-minute mark. The game is planned for release on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and on Steam.
