New Xbox Development Going “Full Steam Ahead” — AMD Engineer

Insider Moore’s Law Is Dead (MILD) said in a new video that they obtained confirmation from several sources, including an AMD employee.

According to him, the next Xbox project, codenamed Magnus, was actively discussed at an internal meeting on October 3, 2025. Other sources indicated that Microsoft is tied to contractual obligations for Magnus, and cancelling development would be prohibitively expensive for the company.

An engineer noted that the Magnus SoC is “how Microsoft will choose to position it.” Initially conceived as a console chip, it is now possible it could form the foundation of a hybrid device — a combined console and PC under the Xbox brand. The new system is expected to launch in 2027. MILD’s sources assert that active design work is ongoing and that reports of the project’s cancellation are inaccurate.

At the same time, MILD described Xbox’s current strategy as “chaotic” — citing price fluctuations, unclear communication, and falling retail sales. That has sparked rumors suggesting Microsoft’s plans for a new console are in doubt.
