New ‘X-Files’ Finds Its Lead Actress

Deadline has officially revealed the lead actress for the upcoming The X-Files reboot, spearheaded by director Ryan Coogler (Sinners, Black Panther).

Danielle Deadwyler, acclaimed for her performance in Station Eleven, is set to take on a starring role. Jennifer Yale (Copenhagen Cowboy) has been appointed as the showrunner for the Hulu original series. Coogler is poised to produce, write, and direct the pilot episode.

While a definitive premiere date remains under wraps, the franchise’s legacy dates back to 1993. The original series followed FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they investigated unexplained paranormal phenomena. The iconic show previously returned for a brief revival in 2016.

Deadwyler is also recognized for her work in the drama Till, the thriller Carry-On, and the horror feature The Woman in the Yard. Fans can also expect to see the actress in the third season of HBO’s Euphoria this spring.
