New Owners of EA Reportedly Plan to Use AI Aggressively to Cut Costs
A consortium of investors — including the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia — has acquired the company.
According to the Financial Times, the new owners of EA are wagering on artificial intelligence to sharply reduce the company’s operating expenses and boost profitability in the coming years. Deploying AI is also expected to help manage the firm’s substantial debt load, for a company that “historically carried minimal net debt.”
Earlier reports indicated that EA was purchased for $55 billion by a consortium that included Silver Lake, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, and the investment firm Affinity Partners.
