New Evil Dead Film to Serve as a Prequel to Sam Raimi’s Horror Classic

The creative team behind the iconic Evil Dead franchise has unveiled fresh details regarding the upcoming entry, titled Evil Dead: Wrath. According to Deadline, the film is set to function as a direct prequel to Sam Raimi’s seminal 1981 horror masterpiece.

The narrative will transport audiences back to 1972, documenting the harrowing events that unfolded years before the original movie’s terrifying cabin getaway.

The project is helmed by filmmaker Francis Galluppi, best known for his work on the thriller The Last Stop in Yuma County. Producers shared that it was following the success of that film that Raimi personally approached Galluppi to helm this new chapter in the franchise. Sam Raimi himself is attached as a producer alongside his longtime collaborator, Rob Tapert.

The ensemble cast features Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, Josh Helman, and several others.

Production on Wrath has already wrapped, and the film is currently slated for a theatrical release on April 7, 2028.
