New Denuvo Version Blocks Hypervisors, Complicating Star Wars: Galactic Racer Crack
This time, DRM is causing more trouble than usual.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer recently released on consoles and PC as a new version of the classic single-race format racing game. The game’s launch caught the attention of PC gamers who do not usually care much about the Star Wars franchise or the genre.
Denuvo was used to protect the PC version of Star Wars: Galactic Racer. Many people are already accustomed to DRM being easily bypassed using a hypervisor, but a problem arose in this case because the usual approach did not work. One of the crack creators shared that an improved version of Denuvo protection was added to the game:
It looks like this game uses an updated version of Denuvo, which makes creating a crack for it on release day more difficult than usual. One of the CPU feature flags that could previously be disabled for the cracked version to work properly is now effectively force-activated by the game when launched, which then leads to crashes.
However, hackers are not discouraged and believe that a solution to crack or bypass the new version of Denuvo in Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be found “sooner or later.”
The game itself launched on Steam with “very positive” reviews, and many players who tried it out were satisfied.
