More than 20 songs debut on the Aug. 28-dated Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, led by Lizzo and Cardi B’s “Rumors” at Nos. 12 and 29, respectively.
Elsewhere, two songs enter the Global 200 after getting a head start on last week’s Global Excl. U.S. survey, while two songs do the opposite, launching on the latter list after debuting on the former.
Turkey’s Sefo finds himself on the Global 200 for the first time, as “Bilmem Mi?” arrives at No. 82, while rocketing 121-41 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart. It’s the first Turkish-language song to hit the former survey and the fourth to hit the latter (following two mixed German-Turkish-language titles).
Sahdev Dirdo, Badshah, Aastha Gill and Rico — all from India — debut on the Global 200 at No. 88 with “Bachpan Ka Pyaar,” while vaulting 184-50 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart. It’s the first song on either chart for Rico and Dirdo, while Badshah and Gill previously hit both lists with “Paani Paani.”
Like “Paani Paani” and other Bollywood hits that have reached the global charts, “Bachpan Ka Pyaar” owes its strong showing to its official music video, which accounted for the bulk of the song’s 42 million total streams in the week ending Aug. 19, according to MRC Data (marking the 13th-best streaming sum among all songs worldwide in the tracking week).
Meanwhile, Wizkid’s “Essence,” featuring Justin Bieber and Tems, starts at No. 60 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart as it shoots 87-28 on the Global 200. The track gets its major lift in part due to the new Bieber remix, released Aug. 13, with the Canadian superstar joining the two Nigerian acts on the ascendant hit.
Plus, Doja Cat breaks onto the Global Excl. U.S. ranking at No. 152 with “Get Into It (Yuh),” as it jumps 108-65 in its third week on the Global 200. It’s as the Los Angeles native’s 15th title to hit the former list, as her log of simultaneously charting songs builds. On this week’s surveys, she lands eight songs on the Global 200 and six on the Global Excl. U.S. ranking, outpaced only by Olivia Rodrigo (seven) on the latter, and tying her for the most on the former.
