Netflix has opted not to renew the science fiction series *The Boroughs* for a second season. The show, which counted the creators of *Stranger Things*, the Duffer Brothers, among its executive producers, was axed less than a month following its premiere.
Set within the confines of a quiet retirement community, the narrative followed a group of residents who find themselves facing an inexplicable supernatural threat. The ensemble cast featured notable talents including Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Bill Pullman, Clarke Peters, and Denis O’Hare. The series was spearheaded by creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, who previously collaborated on *The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance*.
According to industry reports, the creative team had originally envisioned an expansive story arc spanning at least three seasons, with preliminary discussions regarding potential spin-offs. Nevertheless, Netflix decided to pull the plug on the project, effectively abandoning any plans to further develop the show’s universe.
