Mortal Kombat 2 to Be the Biggest Film in the Franchise — Warner Bros. Shows New Clip

A new Mortal Kombat 2 featurette showcases battle sequences, behind-the-scenes moments, and actor commentary.

Warner Bros. released a behind-the-scenes featurette for Mortal Kombat 2 to coincide with the studio’s panel at New York Comic Con. The clip includes interviews with the cast, on-set footage, and new official images from the sequel.

The filmmakers promise this installment will be the most ambitious entry in the franchise yet, packed with even more spectacular fights, signature moves, and fatalities.

Martin Ford, who plays Shao Kahn, remarked that the creators have improved “literally every aspect of the picture.” Lewis Tan (Cole Young) stressed the film is “bigger on every front,” and director Simon McQuoid said: “You haven’t seen Mortal Kombat on this scale before.” According to Karl Urban (Johnny Cage), the sequel is “an epic story they had to share.”

In the second installment the tournament that gave the franchise its name finally begins. The heroes must join forces to stop Shao Kahn and his army, which threatens the existence of Earthrealm. Although Johnny Cage has been central to the promotional campaign, the director and actors say a substantial portion of the plot focuses on Kitana, portrayed by Adeline Rudolph.

The cast also includes Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Joe Taslim, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, and others.

Mortal Kombat 2 is scheduled to premiere on May 15, 2026.
