Morgan Wallen Offers Prayers for Charlie Kirk’s Widow Erika During Canadian Tour Stop

During his Sept. 12 concert at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium, Morgan Wallen paused mid-set to extend his sympathies to Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot days earlier.

Onstage, the 32-year-old country star stopped the performance to address the crowd and acknowledge the family’s loss. In fan-recorded footage, Wallen said he didn’t want to linger on remarks but wanted Erika and her family to know they were in his thoughts and prayers. (See the fan video on YouTube.)

He then dedicated the song “I’m a Little Crazy” to the Kirk family. The track reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot chart in April 2025, and Wallen asked the audience to join him in a unified moment of support as they sang along.

Charlie Kirk, 31, co-founded Turning Point USA and was shot on Sept. 10 while taking questions during “The American Comeback Tour” at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was later pronounced dead. He is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two daughters. Authorities arrested the suspected gunman, identified as Tyler Robinson, the following day.

Wallen was not the only musician to publicly acknowledge Kirk’s death. That same night, Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin addressed fans at Wembley Stadium in London and encouraged the audience to “send love anywhere you want to send it in the world,” specifically including Kirk’s family in that call for support. Numerous artists also shared tributes and reactions across social media, among them Sheryl Crow, Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Breland, Lauren Alaina, Gavin Adcock, Parker McCollum, CeCe Winans, and Michael W. Smith.

A public memorial service for Charlie Kirk is scheduled for Sept. 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
