Modder tries to make RDR2 players who kill NPCs feel guilty

Non-player characters now have memories.

Streamer and modder Blurbs developed a mod that gives NPCs in Red Dead Redemption 2 their own “memories” which play at the moment of their death. The aim of the mod is to create an “overwhelming sense of guilt” in the player.

The concept came from a viewer suggestion after Blurbs asked his audience to share their “worst ideas.” He then altered the game to include a cinematic mode: just before an NPC dies, the camera pulls in on the character in slow motion and shows their “memories.” To achieve this effect, Blurbs recorded a series of flashbacks and scripted the game so those moments load when an NPC dies.

He entrusted the scriptwriting to his Twitch chat. The resulting lines are absurd — packed with references to memes, the anime One Piece, baseball, video games, and other oddities.

It seems I made a mistake letting Twitch chat write the scripts.
