Modder Creates Nintendo Switch Emulator for PlayStation 5 Amid Nintendo Lawsuit
Super Mario 3D World runs very well on PlayStation 5.
Nintendo’s legal department has secured another victory. Nearly a year after company representatives filed a lawsuit against a Reddit moderator who managed a subreddit dedicated to Nintendo Switch console piracy, the court has reached a verdict.
The legal proceedings concluded against the defendant, who did not even appear in court. Reports indicate that the court ordered $4.5 million in damages. Nintendo’s lawyers accused James “Archbox” Williams of copying, distributing, and promoting pirated Switch games. They also alleged that he created and advertised pirate websites that allowed users to download the company’s console game library.

Against this backdrop, a user named BearsAreCool2077 announced the development of a project called ProsperoEden for PlayStation 5. It is an unofficial port of Eden, a Nintendo Switch emulator.
The project is currently in the alpha stage, and BearsAreCool2077 is looking for testers. If everything works out, PlayStation 5 users will be able to play Nintendo Switch games on the console.
Among the project’s features, the developer highlighted a “game library with cover art,” a list of recently launched games, different play modes (handheld or docked), and in-game save support. The author is currently focused on 2D platformers and is not yet touching large-scale 3D AAA games, though they did test Super Mario 3D World and found that it works well.
