When it came time to kick off the 2021 CMA Awards at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, country superstar Miranda Lambert decided to do so with some fireworks — or, more accurately, some “Kerosene,” and a little “Gunpowder & Lead”
Starting off the annual awards show with a bang, Lambert appeared onstage donning a bright-blue jumpsuit, complete with red fringe and embroidery, to perform a medley of some of her greatest hits. Starting with her 2005 hit “Kerosene,” Lambert loudly asked, “How you doing tonight, Nashville?”
What followed was a tour of some of the star’s biggest hits, including “Mama’s Broken Heart,” “Bluebird” and “Little Red Wagon.” Closing out her explosive opening number, Lambert launched into “Gunpowder & Lead,” bringing the audience to their feet as a pile of sparking pyrotechnics bloomed in the background.
Lambert has reason to celebrate at this year’s CMA Awards: The country star is nominated for three awards, including entertainer of the year and female vocalist of the year.
The star is also far from the only performer at Wednesday night’s event: The show, featuring Luke Bryan as the evening’s host, will also feature performances from Chris Stapleton, Jimmie Allen, Mickey Guyton and many more of country’s biggest stars.
