Crossovers are commonplace now, but Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds surprised fans with a Minecraft-inspired update.
The new DLC adds three Mojang characters — Steve, Alex, and the Creeper — along with a Minecraft World racetrack and the Minecart vehicle. The soundtrack includes familiar pieces from the original game: “Pigstep,” “Infinite Amethyst,” and “Comforting Memories.” The expansion is priced at $4.99, though season pass holders receive it at no extra cost.
The DLC launch also kicks off the Minecraft Festival event, which runs through October 12, 2025. Players earn festival points to unlock titles, stickers, a horn, and a new accessory. Developers have promised that some rewards will be reintroduced in future updates for anyone who misses them.
The studio confirmed that the next crossover will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will bring SpongeBob into the racing roster.
