Migos returns to the top five of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for the first time since 2018 as “Having Our Way,” featuring Drake, debuts at No. 5 on the list dated June 26. The rap trio of Quavo, Takeoff and Offset returns to the region as songs from their Culture III album arrive on the chart, while the album enters at No. 2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
“Way” marks Migos’ best showing on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs since “Stir Fry” also reached No. 5 in 2018. The new track is the first of two Migos top 10 appearances this week, as previously released Culture III single “Straightenin” rallies 38-9 amid the album’s chart impact week. Thanks to “Way” and “Straightenin,” the trio adds its seventh and eighth top 10 visits.
Here’s a recap of their collection:
Song Title, Artist (if other than Migos), Peak Position, Peak Year
“Bad and Boujee,” No. 1 (10 weeks), 2017
“I Get the Bag,” Gucci Mane featuring Migos, No. 5, 2017
“Motorsport,” with Nicki Minaj & Cardi B, No. 3, 2017
“Stir Fry,” No. 5, 2018
“Walk It Talk It,” featuring Drake, No. 7, 2018
“Pure Water,” with Mustard, No. 10, 2019
“Having Our Way,” featuring Drake, No. 5, 2021
“Straightenin’” No. 9, 2021
For featured artist Drake, meanwhile, “Way” yields a record-extending 86th top 10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. He continues to distance himself from all challengers, with James Brown’s 57 top 10s the closest. Among active recording artists, Lil Wayne, at 50, is the closest competitor.
“Way” traces its strong opening to 19.5 million U.S. streams in the week ending June 17, according to MRC Data, and begins at No. 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart. Additional activity comes from 3,000 download sales in the same period, enough to kick off at No. 15 on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and, though it is not yet an official radio single, generated 449,000 in radio audience reach in the week ending June 20.
Meanwhile, “Straightenin” surges to its top 10 status thanks to 13.6 million U.S. streams (prompting a No. 9 re-entry on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs) and 3,400 sales downloads (translating to a No. 10 return on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales). It’s also the current radio focus and advances 24-20 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay with a 28% improvement to 7.2 million in format audience in the week ending June 20. In addition to that radio base, “Straightenin” rises 23-17 on Rap Airplay and debuts at No. 35 on Rhythmic Airplay.
The two callouts lead eight Migos songs on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week. Here’s the full list:
