Microsoft Seeks Finance Professionals to “Transform” Xbox and Accelerate Profits

Microsoft has announced the hiring of two finance specialists for Xbox to accelerate the business transformation and enhance revenue optimization.

One of the openings — Gaming Finance Transformation Lead — is focused on harmonizing financial processes and systems across Xbox’s game studios, including Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and ensuring alignment with corporate standards. The role’s charge is to “lead transformation initiatives with the highest urgency.”

The second role — Gaming Content and Studios Finance Lead — will partner with studio finance chiefs to provide strategic integration and revenue governance for first-party content and studios. Key responsibilities include:

• crafting a comprehensive financial strategy for major franchises and overseeing its execution and accountability;
• evaluating revenue forecasts and offering recommendations to exceed targets;
• streamlining studio finance processes, diagnosing issues, and developing cross-studio solutions;
• supporting senior leadership with reporting and analytical reviews.

The finance overhaul at Xbox comes as the division prepares a cloud gaming service supported by advertising, readies a next-generation console, and integrates AI technologies — including the generative MUSE system for automated content creation. Facing pressure on profitability, Microsoft is seeking coordinated financial management across studios to maximize returns from acquisitions like the $68 billion Activision deal. Xbox posted a record $23 billion in revenue in the 2025 fiscal year, but improving profitability remains a central objective of the reforms.
