Meet Your New Favorite Muslim Female Punk Band in Peacock’s ‘We Are Lady Parts’ Trailer: Exclusive

Now that you’ve met the bubbly reunited ’90s girl group of Girls5eva, Peacock wants to introduce you to your next favorite fictional female band: Lady Parts.

The all-female Muslim punk band is at the center of Peacock’s We Are Lady Parts, which starts streaming June 3. You can get your first taste of the comedy series in the two-minute trailer below, premiering exclusively on Billboard.

We Are Lady Parts (a Peacock Original in association with the U.K.’s Channel 4) follows London Ph.D. student Amina Hussain (Anjana Vasan) on her unlikely journey to becoming the lead guitarist of an all-female punk band. Her new bandmates — Saira (Sarah Kameela Impey), Ayesha (Juliette Motamed), Bisma (Faith Omole) and Momtaz (Lucie Shorthouse) — pull her out of her comfort zone as she’s torn between their chaotic world and her structured university life.

The series — which was written, created and directed by Nida Manzoor — includes original punk songs as well as yet-unannounced covers, written and adapted by Manzoor along with her siblings, Shez Manzoor, Sanya Manzoor and Benni Fregin. One of those songs, titled “Kill My Sister,” is featured prominently in the trailer. Shez Manzoor also scored the show.

Watch the trailer below, and see the full series starting June 3 on Peacock.
