Medal of Honor: Above And Beyond Has Gigantic Storage Requirements

Respawn Entertainment’s Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond brings the long-dormant shooter franchise into VR and it looks promising so far. However, interested players are going to want to clear out quite a bit of hard drive space on their PCs to make room for the beefy game. How much space, you ask? How does over 300 GB sound?

According to Polygon, Medal of Honor requires 340 GB of free space to download and unpack assets. After that, the game itself will occupy 177 GB of hard-drive space. For those worried that Medal of Honor will balloon in size over time the way Call of Duty games do, developer Respawn Entertainment assures players that future updates won’t be nearly as large.

The minimum system specs are as follows:

  • Intel i7 9700K (or comparable AMD)
  • 16 GB DDR4 RAM
  • Nvidia GTX 2080 or higher
  • 340+ GB of space to unpack/install; 170 GB once installed; SSD or NVMe recommended

All in all, the system requirements are even higher than what Half-Life: Alyx demands.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond takes place during World War II, with players controlling a member of the OSS (the predecessor to the CIA) and engaging in pivotal battles, including D-Day. In addition to providing a singe-player campaign, Above and Beyond features a multiplayer mode and even WWII documentaries. You can check out the game’s story trailer from this year’s Gamescom here. Above and Beyond is scheduled to launch December 11 for Oculus VR and Steam.
