There was a small gallery on Crosby Street in Soho with lovely giant images of the wild Sable Island Horses. One {photograph} specifically was of a horse affectionately biting one other, each of their sun-drenched manes flowing wildly within the ocean air. My spouse and I handed the window many instances through the years and would at all times say, “that’s us.” Majestic animals, becoming our definition of affection. Unpredictable paths with decisions made collectively and different instances miles aside. Above all else, we wished to be these two horses, eternally related on the finish of all of it. The tune is as deep of an homage to like as I’ve written. I in all probability gained’t write one other like this one. It took years to complete. Thank you to Tegan and Sara for serving to notice the imaginative and prescient, and to Greg Ahee (Protomartyr) for stripping all of it away and reminding me of the simplicity. This one means lots.
