Martell, one of the oldest and most revered cognac maisons, embarks on a fresh cultural odyssey by naming three visionary Cultural Ambassadors: Adesope Olajide (Shopsydoo), Sheniece Charway and Abdul Abdullah.
Celebrated for its ethos of liberty, audacity and unparalleled quality, Martell now deepens its cultural dialogue by illuminating the visionaries propelling Afrobeats. These ambassadors—esteemed for their contributions in music, media and storytelling—have nurtured the genre’s evolution, amplified emerging talents and reshaped global perceptions.

As a pioneering broadcaster and creator of The Afrobeats Podcast, Adesope Olajide has become one of the genre’s most ardent champions, forging connections between artists and audiences and weaving community across continents.
“I’m thrilled by the new territories Afrobeats is exploring—Asia, where Rema has sold out headline shows in multiple Indian cities; the Caribbean, where Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid are making waves; and Latin America, notably Brazil,” Olajide shares with Billboard Africa. “My hope is that tomorrow’s superstars will continue to use Afrobeats as a bridge between diverse cultures and communities.”

Sheniece Charway, a respected music executive and podcast host, brings incisive industry insight and a passion for artist empowerment. Her work has been instrumental in shaping the narrative of Black music across the UK and Europe.
“The rise of Afrobeats and African music represents a thrilling watershed,” Charway tells Billboard Africa. “It transcends mere trendiness; it is a global cultural movement. Having witnessed its growth both professionally and personally, I beam with pride as an African woman. We are seeing an extraordinary wave of superstars from the continent, breaking down old confines and commanding stages worldwide. This is not just about music—it is a powerful exchange of culture and connection. The world is finally embracing our vibrant rhythms and authentic stories nurtured over generations.”
“My greatest wish for the next generation is that they propel the genre to even loftier heights, carrying forward its authenticity, innovation and pride. The groundwork has been laid; the world is listening, and I cannot wait to witness the next chapter of this revolution.”

As founder of AfroFuture Festival and the Culture Management Group, Abdul Abdullah has created platforms for emerging talent, celebrating African music, art and entrepreneurship at scale while forging connections across the diaspora.
“I’m energized by the expanding infrastructure supporting this movement,” Abdullah reflects. “Thus far, only a handful of voices have steered its course. Imagine the possibilities when robust systems are established across the entire continent—the achievements of tomorrow’s superstars will far exceed our wildest imaginings.”
“Adesope, Sheniece and Abdul exemplify cultural stewardship,” says Lanre Odutola, Cultural Partnerships & Influence Marketing Manager at Martell. “Each is deeply embedded in their communities, leveraging networks to uplift others and championing Afrobeats’ future with genuine optimism anchored in action and authenticity—values at the heart of Martell’s collective legacy.”
This appointment builds on Martell’s successful “Afrobeats Live” soirée in Paris, where artists, media and cultural leaders convened to honor the movement’s global resonance. The evening also celebrated Martell’s renewed collaboration with global icon Davido, underscoring the House’s enduring commitment to Afrobeats. As this new chapter unfolds, Martell remains steadfast in its support of the innovators, platforms and conversations steering the genre’s future.
“At Martell, we gravitate toward movements that are bold, expressive and visionary. The principles that drive Afrobeats—authenticity, ambition and cultural excellence—are woven into the very DNA of our House. Through this alliance, we uplift the voices shaping tomorrow’s music and culture,” says Frederic Gardelle, Global Creative Content Director at Martell.
Martell’s cultural odyssey will evolve in tandem with its ambassadors, crafting narratives that spotlight Afrobeats’ worldwide impact, curating immersive experiences that unite communities and championing the platforms that elevate fresh voices. From intimate dialogues to landmark cultural moments, each ambassador will inform Martell’s presence in key regions, providing insight, connectivity and creative direction born of lived experience.
From Lagos to London, Accra to Atlanta, and Cognac to the world, this is Martell’s cultural odyssey—a testament to Afrobeats as a global force founded on community, identity and creative progression.
