Mark Hoppus Says He’s Determined to ‘Kick Cancer’s Ass’ In Face Of Crucial Upcoming Test

Mark Hoppus shared another update with fans about his ongoing cancer treatment over the weekend, doubling-down on his determination to defeat disease while revealing that an upcoming test may give him some clarity about his prognosis.

“Apologies if I’m oversharing but it’s so surreal to think that this week I’ll take a test that may very well determine if I live or die,” the Blink-182 bassist/singer said in a tweet on Saturday (July 10) in which he did not specify the nature of the test. “Thanks to everyone for the positive thoughts and encouragement. I read all your replies and it means the world to me. Thank you.” To date, the 49 year-old Hoppus has not revealed what type of cancer he is fighting, but has said that he’s been undergoing chemotherapy for several months.

Over the July 4th weekend he also shared a smiling pic of himself with a bald head, writing, “The Cancer Haver wishes you all a very happy Fourth of July weekend.” A second tweet from Hoppus over the weekend appeared to provide a bit more information on his health while providing a ray of hope.

“I’m going to beat this through chemotherapy or through bone marrow transplants,” he tweeted. “But either way I’m determined to kick cancer’s ass directly in the nuts. Love to you all. Let’s. Heckin. Go.” He included what looked like an MRI with two spots near his neck that were circled in white.
