Mariah Carey Flirts with Anderson .Paak in ‘Play This Song’ Video as Dating Rumors Swirl

Rumors linking Mariah Carey and Anderson .Paak have only intensified after the release of their new music video for “Play This Song.”

The black-and-white clip premiered on YouTube on Friday, Sept. 26 — the same day Carey’s album Here for It All arrived — and finds the pair looking effortlessly glamorous in tailored blazers inside a lavish mansion. Throughout the video, they exchange warm smiles and intimate gestures: Carey gently caresses .Paak’s face, and he responds by kissing her fingers.

“And I know you miss me, babe / Ain’t it hard when things don’t go your way?” they sing together. “I’m not the same baby, I promise / All I can say is that I’m sorry.”

In the video’s final moments, .Paak pulls Carey into a hug and plants a kiss on her cheek as they laugh and walk away side by side.

.Paak appears as one of several collaborators on Here for It All — an album that also features Kehlani, Shenseea and the Clark Sisters — but he’s the one fueling speculation that a real-life romance may be brewing. Photographs from Christmas 2024 showed the two spending time together in Aspen and holding hands, which further stirred fan conversation.

When asked about their relationship during a recent interview on CBS Mornings with Gayle King, Carey stayed coy while praising .Paak’s talent, calling him “brilliant.” Of the Aspen photos she said, “He just likes to hold my hand,” later adding only that their connection felt “something special.”
