It was a family affair when Madonna took a trip back to her ancestral Michigan stomping grounds to celebrate her dad Silvio’s 90th birthday. The singer and her six children buzzed in to Silvio’s Ciccone Vineyard & Winery on the Leelanau Peninsula for the special occasion, which the 62 year-old pop icon commemorated in a video featuring snaps from the trip.
“My father is a survivor growing up as an Italian Immigrant in the US and living thru many traumas but always working hard for everything he had,” she captioned the post. “He taught me the importance of hard work and earning one’s way in life………….Again I thank you. It was so special to spend your 90th birthday with you and my children in your vineyard. “
In the clip her children — Lourdes Leon, 24, Rocco Ritchie, 20, David Banda, 15, Mercy James, 15 and twin eight year-old daughters Stella Ciccone and Estere Ciccone — hang with Silvio and sprint around the vineyard, celebrating the event with a triple-tiered, fruit-covered cake surrounded by his signature wine bottles.
The short clip set to British punk band The Stranglers’ signature 1982 hit, “Golden Brown,” opens with a black and white image of Madonna hugging her dad, followed by footage of the twins playing in the vineyard, a sweet hug between Lourdes and her mama and a series of gorgeous pictures of the property and the children sharing gifts with their gramps.
On Wednesday, she also shared a sweet video her dad saying a pre-show prayer with her dancers before a show in which she pre-apologizes for her foul language. While she continues work on her upcoming biopic, Madonna took time recently to team up with Snoop Dogg for an appearance in his “Gang Signs” video.
