Luke Bryan Reveals the Pressures of Touring in ‘My Dirt Road Diary’ Trailer: It ‘Never Got Any Easier’

Luke Bryan shares the ups and downs on his path to superstardom in his new IMDb TV five-part docuseries that premieres Aug. 6.

The emotional trailer for Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary dropped Wednesday (June 23) and shows the three-time ACM Awards entertainer of the year performing before packed venues and in clips talking about his dreams coming true, but the stars of the trailer are his parents. His dad recalls thinking, “We had another Elvis Presley on the way” after Bryan’s musical aspirations revealed themselves from an early age, while his mom, over footage of a stadium full of Bryan fans, says, “There’s no way to fathom that many people in one place coming to see my baby.”

Bryan shares how he copes being away from his family while touring, admitting, “Being gone for weeks at a time never got any easier, the pressure never let up, so let’s just worry about getting caught up in the moment and having some fun.”

The trailer alludes to the deaths of his two siblings, showing home photos of him with his late brother and sister, then switches to footage of Bryan accepting an award, saying, “I have some angels in heaven making this night possible for me.”

“The devotion and support of my fans are the reason I have made it this far in my career,” said Bryan in a statement. “Life can be tough, and the past 15 months have been very difficult for everyone. I hope in sharing this raw look into my life that it may be an encouragement to others. Through the heartaches, triumphs can come.”

“This series underscores Luke’s unique and inspiring ability to handle every personal tragedy with grace and every professional success with humility, inspiring audiences to do the same,” added Lauren Anderson and Ryan Pirozzi, co-heads of content and programming at IMDb TV.

Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary is executive produced by Bryan, his manager Kerri Edwards and Ryan Schmidt, in association with Endeavor Content and Peanut Mountain Productions. Michael Monaco of FlyHi Films also serves as an executive producer and directs.

The American Idol judge heads back out on the road this summer with his Proud to Be Right Here tour and will also kick off his first Las Vegas residency in February 2022 at the Theater at Resort World.
