Luis Figueroa is officially a Billboard chart-topping artist, as his single “Hasta El Sol de Hoy” rises 2-1 on the latest Tropical airplay chart (dated July 31), marking his first No. 1 on any ranking.
The track reaches the summit with 3.9 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 13%) in the U.S. in the week ending July 25, according to MRC Data. The song is his first charting single at the format, and holds at its No. 8 peak on Latin Pop Airplay.
Prior to “Hasta El Sol de Hoy,” Figueroa has previously sent three tracks onto Latin Pop Airplay: “Por Perro” (Sebastian Yatra featuring Figueroa and Lary Over) in 2018; “La Especialista” in 2020; and then “Te Deseo” also in 2020.
“Hasta El Sol de Hoy” also rises 32-26 on overall Latin Airplay chart.
Notably, “Hasta El Sol de Hoy” is a rework of the 1993 hit of the same name. The song was written by Oscar Domingo Derudi and performed by Edgar Joel and his orchestra with Anthony Colon, Figueroa’s uncle, on lead vocals. It reached No. 8 on the Hot Latin Songs chart in September 1993.
Figueroa’s version appears on his album Canciones del Alma, which he released in May.
