Lucy Liu, known for her roles in Charlie’s Angels and Kill Bill, has been cast as the lead in Peacock’s upcoming series Superfakes, Deadline reports.
The plot follows a mother based in Chinatown who deals in fake luxury merchandise. Hoping to buy a house outside the city, she gradually becomes enmeshed in New York’s criminal underworld.
The series is created by Emmy winner Alice Ju (credits include Gnash and Matryoshka Lives). The Safdie brothers (Uncut Gems) are listed among the producers. No release date for Superfakes has been announced.
Liu recently finished filming the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. She is also set to star in the thriller Proby, which will be Laika studio’s first live-action feature.
