Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho and Christian Nodal unite atop the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, as “2 Veces” lifts 5-1 on the May 22-dated survey. Their second collaboration earns Los Plebes del Rancho their second No. 1. Nodal extends his No. 1 record as a solo act with 12 leaders.
“2 Veces” pushes up the chart with 6.7 million in audience impressions, up 44%, earned in the week ending May 16, according to MRC Data. That’s a 2 million gain from the previous week.
“2 Veces” is a fusion of mariacheño and sierreño banda genres, the latter a subgenre of regional Mexican music with mainly stringed instruments. It was written by Nodal, Edgar Barrera and Horacio Palencia and is the first single from their joint upcoming album — a tribute to the late Ariel Camacho — a 10-track set with reworks from Camacho’s early recordings alongside his band Los Plebes del Rancho.
The song’s coronation gives Los Plebes their second Regional Mexican Airplay No. 1. They first visited the summit with “Te Metiste,” the two-week champ, which landed atop the tally almost six months after Camacho’s death (August 2015).
Nodal’s 12th win arrives less than a month after he last captured a No. 1: “Duele,” his collaborative effort with Alejandro Fernández, reigned for one week on the chart dated April 24. Here’s a look at the updated board of soloist winners on Regional Mexican Airplay:
12, Nodal
10, Gerardo Ortiz
7, Marco Antonio Solis
7, Vicente Fernández
4, Alejandro Fernández
4, Joan Sebastian
Among all acts, Calibre 50 continues to rule with 19 No. 1s.
Elsewhere in the radio landscape, “2 Veces” shoots up Latin Airplay with a 17-8 climb. It’s Nodal’s 12th top 10 and seventh consecutive. Los Plebes secure their second.
Beyond the radio wins, “2 Veces” sees progress on the all-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, a blend of airplay, digital sales and streaming data, as the song soars 10 rankings (39-29).
