The Game of Thrones actress presented Swift with the Global Icon Award at the 2021 Brit Awards on Tuesday, and the duo took a series of serious selfies to commemorate their union. Williams shared the pics on her Instagram with the caption “Look What You Made Me Do,” nodding to Swift’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 lead single from 2017’s Reputation. Williams also shared a mirror video on her Instagram Story lip-syncing to the song’s bridge: “I’m sorry, the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now/ Why? Oh, ’cause she’s dead!”
The award-winning singer is just as big a fan of Williams, gushing about the HBO fantasy drama at the Brits and fangirling over getting the award from the actress who portrayed the fierce Arya Stark before launching into her inspirational acceptance speech when she received the Global Icon honor. “Anyone who knows me at all knows that Game of Thrones is my life, so the fact that Maisie was here to present this … I want to grab you, I can’t. We’re social distancing. But thank you so much for coming here to do this!” Swift told Williams.
Looks like these two got to hug it out after all — and Swift also met up with one of her biggest fans in the world, Olivia Rodrigo. The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series breakout star also shared a silly selfie she took with the pop superstar, whom she met for the first time after the 2021 Brits, where she gave a very moving performance of her hit debut single “Drivers License.”
