A giant League Of Legends custom is to drop a brand new tune for every year’s World Championship, a battle anthem evoking the drama and risks of clicking on wizards. A giant Rock, Paper, Shotgun custom was for Pip to squint on the new video and say “yeah, but it’s not as good as the Imagine Dragons one, is it?” It is in tribute to my expensive former colleague that I deliver you the tune for LoL Worlds 2019 in Paris, Phoenix (ft. Cailin Russo and Chrissy Costanza).
These songs are literally purpose-written for the Worlds. Riot’s personal music workforce collaborate with singers, writers, and producers for a brand new anthem and music video every year. I’m delighted. What a superb use of selling cash. Bring on the spectacle, baybee.
I dig Phoenix as a champion’s tune. You endure adversity! People are in opposition to you! You’ve fallen! They’re making an attempt to field you in! But what if… the true impediment is your self?
So are you gonna die right now or make it out alive?
You gotta conquer the monster in your head and then you definately’ll fly
Fly, Phoenix, fly
It’s time for a brand new empire
Go bury your demons then tear down the ceiling
Phoenix, fly
That does the job. I did get goosebumps, although my flat’s fairly chilly. But… can Phoenix topple Imagine Dragons because the champions of Championship songs with 2014’s Warriors?
Verdict: good attempt, however no. Stuff tearing down the ceiling, Imagine Dragons ARE THE WARRIORS THAT BUILT THIS TOWN, FROM DUST.
