Lollapalooza 2021 Will Be Livestreamed on Hulu: Exclusive

Not yet ready for a giant music festival? Worried about the Delta variant? Or maybe you just couldn’t swing attending Lollapalooza 2021 in person, much as you wanted to? No need to miss out on all the fun: Billboard can exclusively report that for the first time, Lollapalooza has partnered exclusively with Hulu to livestream the event.

On-demand subscribers of the streaming service will be able to check out the annual four-day music festival — which this year runs July 29 to Aug. 1 at Chicago’s Grant Park — from the comfort of their own homes at no additional cost. The lineup for the exclusive Hulu livestream will be finalized next week; the stream will kick off at 11 a.m. PT and wrap up at 8 p.m. PT each day. Additional performance information will also be available at Hulu.com/lollapalooza.

“We are thrilled to be partnering for the first time with Hulu for this year’s livestream and are excited that the Lollapalooza fans who cannot be with us in Chicago have such a great platform to experience the show,” Courtney Trucksess, sponsorship director of Lollapalooza festival promoter C3 Presents, tells Billboard.

The festival from Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, unveiled its lineup in May. Among the performers in-person attendees can check out this year are Miley Cyrus, Megan Thee Stallion, Foo Fighters, Post Malone, Tyler, the Creator, DaBaby, Limp Bizkit and many more.

Lollapalooza’s organizers also announced in May that the event would be returning to full capacity. It will also be one of the first major festivals to take place in North America after the global coronavirus pandemic shut down much of the world beginning in March 2020, resulting in the cancellation of Lollapalooza 2020.

“Armed with a vaccine that is safe, effective and widely available, we are able to bring back one of our city’s most iconic summer music festivals,” Chicago’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot said in a statement in May. Attendees will be required to provide proof that they’ve been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Anyone not vaccinated will need to show a negative test within 24 hours of attending Lollapalooza each day.

The Lollapalooza 2021 livestream will be the third concert event this year made available to Hulu subscribers. “Your Attention Please: The Concert” streamed in February in honor of Black History Month, and “Summer of Soul” celebrated Juneteenth.
